Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

OrchidLines (“we”, “us”) operates the website at orchidlines.com. You can contact us at the address listed at the end of this policy.

2. Your files

OrchidLines’s tools run as JavaScript and WebAssembly inside your own web browser. When you select or drag a file into a tool, the browser reads that file from your device into the page’s memory. All processing — resizing, converting, encrypting, calculating — happens there. The result is written back to your device when you press download.

We therefore do not receive, transmit, store, log, back up, inspect or share your files or their contents. There is no upload step. This is a property of how the site is built, not a promise about how we behave. You can confirm it at any time by opening your browser’s developer tools and watching the Network tab while you use a tool, or by disconnecting from the internet after the page has loaded and using the tool anyway.

3. Data stored on your device

Some tools save small amounts of data locally, using your browser’s localStorage, IndexedDB or Cache Storage. This never leaves your device, and you can clear it at any time through your browser settings. Examples:

• Your light or dark theme preference.
• Settings you last used in a tool, so it opens the way you left it.
• One-time downloaded engines or AI models, cached so a tool does not have to re-download them. The audio tools use one of these to write MP3 files: LAME, an open-source MP3 encoder served from this site and run inside your browser. It is fetched the first time you save an MP3, and cached from then on. Your audio is encoded on your own device and is not sent anywhere. Its licence and full source are published at /assets/vendor/mp3/lame-LICENCE.txt.

4. Information collected automatically

Like any website, our web server records standard technical information when a page is requested: IP address, browser user agent, the page requested, referring page, and a timestamp. These logs are used to keep the site running and secure, and to understand which tools are popular. They contain no information about the files you process.

5. Advertising

OrchidLines is free and is funded by advertising. We use Google AdSense to serve ads. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet. Google and its partners may also use device identifiers and similar technologies to serve and measure advertising, including personalised advertising.

• You can opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings, and from many other vendors at aboutads.info/choices.
• Where required by law, a consent banner is shown before personalised advertising cookies are set, and you can change your choice at any time with the “Cookie choices” link in the footer of every page.

Advertising code has no access to the files you are working on — those exist only in the tool’s own memory and are never passed to any script outside the tool itself.

6. Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to count page views and see which tools people actually use, so we know what to build next. It records things like which page you visited, roughly where in the world you are, your browser and device type, and how long you stayed.

Google Analytics sets cookies or similar identifiers so it can tell one visit from another. It does not receive your name, your email address, or anything you type into a tool, and it has no visibility at all into the files you open — those never leave your browser’s memory.

• You can stop Google Analytics measuring your visits entirely with Google’s browser opt-out add-on, or with any ordinary tracker blocker. Every tool on this site keeps working normally either way — nothing here depends on analytics loading.
• Where required by law, a consent banner is shown before analytics and personalised advertising cookies are set, and you can change your choice at any time with the “Cookie choices” link in the footer of every page.

Advertising and analytics are the only third-party code on this site that contacts a network. Everything a tool does with your file happens on your own device.

7. Children

OrchidLines is a general-audience utility site and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you. In practice we hold very little: we have no user accounts, and we never receive your files. If you would like a copy of, or the deletion of, any server log entries associated with your IP address, contact us and we will action it.

If you are in the EEA or UK, our lawful basis for processing server logs is our legitimate interest in operating a secure website, and for advertising cookies it is your consent.

9. Changes

If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will be noted on the home page.
